DANA AUGUSTINE
SINCE 1981
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY REPORT
Published Aug 08, 2024
We, the management of Dana Augustine Inc. (DAI) recognize the importance of corporate social responsibility in today’s business environment. We continue our commitment to integrating ethical practices, human rights advocation, environmental stewardship, and community engagement into our operations. This report outlines our efforts and achievements in these areas over the past year.
Ethical Business Practices – We uphold fair trade practices and maintain transparent relationships with our suppliers. Our procurement policies prioritize suppliers who share our commitment to ethical standards and sustainability. In addition, DAI maintained our practice of sourcing from a limited number of vendors to ensure low risk levels that match our practices. These relationships average over 20 years, and some extend back to 1981. All suppliers have implemented robust supply chain control practices, resulting in risk factor scorecards of 4-5, indicating low risk. We also have a comprehensive code of conduct that guides our employees in ethical behavior, ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace.
Human Rights – DAI continues to advocate strongly for human rights in the workplace, ensuring a safe environment that is free from unnecessary hazards and hostility. DAI utilized training courses focused on diversity and inclusion, professionally developed by reputable third-party contractors.
Dana Augustine has zero tolerance for corruption. We adhere to strict anti-corruption policies and regularly train our employees to recognize and prevent corrupt practices.
DAI strives to help those in need and so, has been a dedicated supporter for Jewelers For Children (JFC), contributing to its mission of donating over $60 million to aid children affected by catastrophic illness or life-threatening abuse and neglect. In additional to our continued financial support, our CEO, Dana Augustine, is giving of his time by serving as a proud member of JFC’s Board. DAI remains committed to continuing our support for JFC in the years ahead.
- Charity: DAI firmly believes in being a pillar of support specifically for our own neighborhood and thus has partnered with a longstanding local charity with a 50-year legacy of impactful service. MUST Ministries provides essential services such as food, housing, and clothing to a diverse community, including the elderly, youth, and those in dire need. Dana Augustine aligns itself profoundly with MUST Ministries core values of compassion, integrity, and respect.
This year DAI has continued our support through joining the “COMPANIES MUST CARE” program. Through this program MUST’s mission is to create a network of business partners that will support MUST’s mission, encourage other businesses to have meaningful community engagements and build new and deeper community bonds. Through monthly donations, the COMPANIES MUST CARE program can provide MUST with a consistent and reliable source of funding that allows the organization to plan ahead.
We invite you to join us in supporting these exceptional organizations by utilizing the links provided above.
Environment – We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by optimizing energy use in our facilities and investing in renewable energy sources where feasible. DAI recognizes the difficulty of minimizing carbon emissions with a mobile salesforce and so annually purchases 420 metric tons of Sterling climate carbon offsets. This is purchased through Sterling Planet, who is verified through Green-e Energy and EKOenergy and directly mitigates the environmental impact of energy use and travel. In doing so we have been presented with a certificate of environmental stewardship. Additionally, Dana Augustine implements recycling programs and strives to minimize waste generation. We continually seek innovative ways to reuse materials and reduce packaging. DAI is also proud to announce we are now using only LED lighting to ensure a reduction of power usage.
Future Goals – Looking ahead, DAI. remains committed to advancing our corporate social responsibility efforts. Our future goals include:
- Further reducing our environmental footprint through the implementation of electric or hybrid vehicles.
- Enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our workforce and supply chain.
- Expanding our community outreach programs to make a greater impact locally and globally.
Conclusion – At Dana Augustine, we believe that integrating social responsibility into our business strategy is not only the right thing to do but also essential for long-term success. We will continue to innovate and collaborate with stakeholders to create a more sustainable and inclusive future.
